i think that the difference in measurment is actually coming from the ball on the end.

Agreed, I had a gig this weekend, and think it has to do with the way that grille makes people sing. Yes, evan, I know it seems ridiculous, maybe it's psychological junk about experiences I've had with one or the other...either way, there's some kind of a difference.
