Default Recommend a Power amp 400W 8Ohms x 2?

Can anyone recommend a good power amp at 400W a channel at 8 ohms. I haven't really looked at the new stuff in a while.

Yamaha, QSC, and Crown are all still very solid?

Does behringer really exaggerate their numbers?

I have found the best of what you mention to be the QSC amps. The RMX and PLX2 amps are rock solid and will take lots of abuse. Crown's sound good but lack a little on reliability lately. Also if you are using the XTI series there were a few software problems and there is a very slight processing delay that you might have to compensate for. Behringer well I have never used one and probably never will but I hear these are one of their better offerings so for a cheap amp for monitors or subs it would be a maybe but not for anything mission critical.

Thanks Neal. Its funny, you always see those old overblown Crown amps from the 70's and 80's that still sound great and their new stuff is tiny.

Yeah the old crowns are great, last forever it seems but I'm sold on QSC. We use the power lights for the wedding igigs and the other rig is all the HPR powered stuff and its all great. Those 15" subs from them pound pretty hard.

Oh yeah to answer the original question I would go with a PLX1802 or the RMX2450 for stereo 8 ohms. You could use a smaller amp in bridged mono though and if its mains they probably should be mono anyways.
