Default "Club"

I dont think this place is a "Club" I dont even think its in Chicago, but it definatly has much awfulness in its acoustics:
the tweeter center.
the place sucks so much I can hear its suckiness from here...

and it sounds like...

Jimmy Buffet.

nope, not a club; but an outdoor venue that has the capacity of an arena.....with horrible acoustics. it's in tinley park, il (they wish they were chicago), and sounds like a deaf jimmy buffett.

Thumbs up

Aragon easily the worst Ive been to, followed by Millenium Park, then Soldier field. It's a shame all that money and work put into the venues, and they still cant get a decent sound. Millenium Park sounded like I was listening to a AM radio right above my head, needless to say I was disapointed. Aragon, well....its the aragon, I feel sorry for any engineer who isnt a master of delay, mixing there. And the most disapointing was Soldier Field, depending on where you sit it sounds like a single auratone trying to fill a concert hall.

How can you go to Soldier Field with any expectation of proper sound?

really? i've only seen one show there and it was a Grant Park Symphony Orchestra concert... but i thought it was the best orchestral sound i've ever heard from an outdoor venue. definitely kicks ravinias ass... and the previous grant park stage.

what kind of show did you see there?

i have to concur with mbc as well, maybe you caught an off night or something at the Millenium Park. Worst acoustic's I've heard are at the Metro club, sounds like the run everything through bass speakers. I see they have a big wall of speakers on each side but they all sound like ass to me. Just power no clarity. Best acoustics I've heard would be the Chicago Audiotorium at Roosevelt University, Schubas for some reason (just because the sounds is neither bad or good just plain), and I liked the sound at the Alpine Valley it coulda been shitty for all I know but the sound rolling off the hills is something I dug.

The Metro sounds ok to me--or at least did the last time I saw a show there a few years back. But one thing I have noticed about the Metro is that if you stand underneath the balcony/mezanine level, which hangs out over the main floor, there is a HUGE amount of bass buildup under there, so maybe that's what you were hearing, dolivas. Funny thing is, that's where they stick the sound guy, if I recall . . .

Metro is another one that can sound good depending on what the engineer does. It isn't an easy room to mix, so out of town guys go in there and attempt to take your head off... which they can accomplish if they drink enough plastic cups of beer. I saw Mr. Bungle there at a respectable volume, and for what it's worth it sounded awesome.

Default FAIC

My band has had problems at The Note before, but I think they now have a new PA system so it wasn't as bad as before.
