Default What club has the worst sound? -- Chicago

I've seen a couple of shows at the Elbo Room where the sound was horrible and the sound guy was actually asleep behind the board. I don't think I'll play there.

Sleeping sound guy also spotted at the Note (though he had set the sound well before his nap). The worst sound in Chicago has to be The Aragon. For smaller venues Big Horse is pretty bad.

Logan Square Auditorium has to be the worst. They would spend so much money renting a huge system for a space that cannot be mixed by man or beast.

in the bottom lounge room the band could sound good, but only if it is not very loud. a few of the aforementioned clubs are closing or have since closed... do i detect a trend?

i must agree, the aragon has terrible sound; but beat kitchen and abbey pub are pretty bad for smaller venues.....medium club-size hands down is congress followed by double door for worst. i haven't been to the logan square auditorium, but i hear the sound is awful.

The Fireside is starting to have shows again. That's a positive.

Guess who wouldn't be caught dead in that place even if you paid me to be on the guestlist?
