Wearing earplugs lets me hear my voice better. Just thought I'd share this in case you're having a hard time hearing yourself at shows or practices.

I agree if you have a loud band earplugs will help you hear your voice better. For me the muffled sound become a bit disorienting. If you use some better made plugs it would probably even things out.

though i know it looks strange while you play out, putting your hand behind your ear (in that way where it looks like you are trying to get someone to speak up) will help you to hear youself better as well.

I found that in acoustic situations this works great. you can even put your hand in the front of your face like your reading off of it. if you find the sweetspot your voice is reflected off your hand right into your ear. This works great if your in a situation where there is many other people singing as well and you need to distinguish yourself from the pack. werd.

I'm in a pretty loud band with a drummer who refuses to wear earplugs. It makes me cringe just thinking about it--he actually was getting dizzy spells when turning his head to the left, and his doctor told him it was due to low-frequency deafness. It's not happening anymore, but he still doesn't wear earplugs because he doesn't like the way it sounds. He won't like the way anything sounds if he keeps that up!
