Default Compressors

my favorite compressors, in no particular order:
Empirical Labs Distressor, Drawmer 1968, Fairchild 660 or 670, Focusrite Red, DBX160, Universal Audio LA2A, Urei 1176. Any others out there I should try?

9098s are amazing. dbx160, 160x, and their 165 are good comps. LA4As are great comps for some things. SSL G384 (the quad compressor) was almost always good for some nice layer of icing on top. I'm a big fan of the FMR RNC that I picked up not to long ago, and they're cheap too.

I loved my 1968! It had this really interesting character to the knee, and you could really use it to shape things in an obvious way. Too bad I lost it in the fire...
