I have that sound enhancer on all the time as well on iTunes. I think foobar2000 and Winamp have something similar it's a normalizer/maximizer of some sort. iTunes EQ presets aren't that good though I prefer Winamp's EQ maybe all the people mentioned in that article aren't EQing right when they record...

it's an exciter/enhancer of some sort:
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod101/tunes/6/ boost certain frequencies and increases the harmonic bandwith. technical mumbo jumbo stuff which makes the music sound better to your ear. like someone said in some of the apple forums, it's like the Loud/Loudness button in your ghetto blaster. |
