I recently added three Cascade Ribbons to the cabinet.
http://www.cascademicrophones.com/ I got two Fatheads and an X-15 stereo both with the stock transformer. So far I have used the X-15 as a drum overhead and the Fatheads for guitar cabinet and vocals. I was really happy with the ovehead and vocal tracks. The guitar cabinet was not the most amazing sound but it mixed very nicely with my regular guitar amp standard the BLUE Ball. I had a few problems with one of the fatheads having a loose screw and one of the channels from the stereo mic being quiter than the other but the company has been helpful in taking care of these problems. All orders are done directly with them. Overall I would say these are very nice mics for the price. My eperience with ribbons has been mostly with really expensive vintage Coles and RCA's and I feel like these Cascades would stack up pretty well against them. The Fatheads are $159 each and the X-15 was $499. |

Cool, I've had my eye on the x15 for drum overhead. Could you do a review in an upcoming crosstalk? I'd like to hear it!

What are you using for overheads now? Perhaps I can do a comparison between the x15 and somthing similar to your setup.
