Default An Audio Interface That Doesn't Change The Signal

I'm an amatuer/non-professional music-maker and for the past year I've been using the M-Audio Mobile-Pre usb audio interface to do all my recordings. Well, about a week ago I spontaneously bought an external mic preamp(this). It was more out of curiosity than anything else(also they did a really good job covering up the fact that it was a hybrid tube/solid-state, but I shouldve expected that for $30).

Anyways, I've compared it to the built-in preamp in my mobile-pre and it sounds way better to me, so I want to switch to using it as my preamp and just having the audio interface do the a/d conversion. However, I can't seem to get it to bypass the preamp of my interface(resulting in a tinniness)...even when I plug it into the "line" inputs, on this particular interface they are optimized for guitar so it still runs it through its preamp to boost the signal and add sparkle.

Is there an interface that does nothin but get the sound onto the computer, no knobs, no preamp, no boosting the signal, no mixer controls or effects...just an interface with one or two line-level inputs. Does anything like this exist that isn't expensive?

I was looking at the Behringer U-Control, but my preamp has xlr and 1/4'' outs, not RCA. Also, I was considering the M-Audio JamLab, but it looks like it was meant for guitar so it probably boosts or changes the signal. The only other reasonably priced one I could find was the M-Audio Fast Track, because it says it has the option to choose a line-level input.

Any help/advice or corrections to my naiveness about this stuff would be very appreciated.

Default DI

Looks like you need a USB DI box. Remember, you get what you pay for. I'm not sure I should offer a suggestion since I work for an audio company in the biz ; )

Also, the ART Tube MP $50 IMO is a little better than the $30 version since it is limiter free. That VU meter is for the limiter in there. ; )

Good luck!
