Default suspenseful sounds

Check this site out:

Guy records the sounds of bridge cables.

http://singingbridges.net/documentation/index.html

Click the "Listen" button halfway down the page for the sounds.

I had heard that, too. If you listen the bridge recording you can kind of hear it.

Also, check this out:

http://home.earthlink.net/~erinys/contactmic.html

DIY instructions for building your own contact mic. Has anyone done this? Or can anyone recommend a commercial contact mic that would be good for caputuring "bridge sounds?"

That's pretty sweet. There is a site, oddmusic.com, that has a ton of instruments which make some pretty murky lurky sounds, and to hear them go HEEEEEEEEEEERE:

Thrash until you die from it.

It's very cool stuff, don't get me wrong. But when I went there I was more under the impression of "listen to how this sounds" this is more like "listen to what I can do with the sounds I captured" ...lots of verb, delay, etc ...scratch that. THat was just the first track.. The rest are more like the artist "playing the cable" ...very cool stuff...some RIDICOLOUSLY deep tones too. Nice overlaying, etc. Very cool.

Also VERY cool from a Sound Design Perspecitve...i.e. star wars.

For some sound design work i did, i needed to make a sound for power lines being blown around violently in a storm. I detuned the strings of the rickenbacker bass so low and then sampled me strumming the detuned strings in different ways, it was an awesome sound, perfect for the animation i was working on

This thread inspired me to go listen to Einsturzende Neubauten's Stragies Against Architecture last night, part of which was recording under and using a bridge in Berlin.
