Back in the day UA made a ton of equipment one of which is the (famous?) LA 3a. The only time i have ever seen it used was on vocals. now in my limited brain power and worthless opinion it was not so impressive The compression was making the vocals brittle and almost tinny in quality. What do you think?

Foe.
It has the same T4B compression stage as the LA2(A), but a completely different line stage that sounds like dull ass. What's worse is that it's really hard to improve because they used some funky IC in the signal path that has no pin-compatible upgrade. As I like to say, you might as well run your signal through two turds and a donut. |
