We all like for difficult things to get easier. The more tasks we allocate to computers and robots are eventually going to make us all OBSOLETE! Here's to our human lazyness. I see our future now and I believe it has something to do with The Terminator, or AI, or The Matrix, or Futurama or the easy life.

i agree... for instance, if i am using a soft synth on a track, i will check out some presets, but then i will tweak the preset i choose, customizing my own tone and sound. there was a great article last year in electronic musician titled "do the wrong thing" , basically stating, almost anything goes in the recording studio, its the human touch thaat makes the difference to all this gear...

That was actually a pretty good article. I remember them talking about I think it was Tom Waits who would use a boombox as a preamp on his voice. That kind a brings my thought process back to having space in the mix. A lot of the time this is an issue because everything is recorded in such wide frequency range hi fidelity. We are recording a lot of frequencies that we may not actually want and in doings so mixes can become cluttered. Using methods that are more lofi not only adds character to the sound but prevents tracks from messing with each other.

Thumbs up

"To comment on the fader riding I would highly reccomend a control surface. There is nothing like getting a fader underneath your fingertips. Point and click automation is useful but I feel it removes me from the mixing process. And yes, it is tedious."dagosto

I couldnt have said it better myself!
