Default mic setup

But seriously, in an ideal world......

OH- Coles ribbons I think they are the 4038's (Bi dir. watch phase!) spaced wisely

snare- AKG414 give it some space at least a foot, SM57 or beyer m69 on bottom (no space, phase reversed)

toms- either AKG414's (pad1) floor toms I like to use bi di pattern to boost proximity and boom. if plenty of phantoms available or Senn.MD 421 (M) if not. or both, one of these on the inside phase reversed to the skin mic.

Kik- Beta 52 on outer skin, Fet 47 about 1 1/2 feet away, as low to the ground as possible with element open and facing upwards toward Kik.
about $5000 worth of mics

cheapy-----> Only attempt in a nice sounding room! large diaphgram condenser about 6 - 10 ft up, about 6 - 10 ft away, cheap dynamic anything on kick drum. Good for low fi 4 tracks bounces very well, good imaging in mono (depth), about $140 worth of mics. For quality sound see above!

Default

A friend of mine mics the concrete room upstairs when the drums are downstairs and gets a great natural reverb track to mess with. I want to try this, but I have to wait until spring so the heater isn't running.
