Default Opinions on the M7 capsule and its hosts

Recently I have had the great pleasure of using the new Gefell UM75 Anniversary mic for vocals on my next album. I have never been more impressed with a microphone containing the M7 capsule. This microphone is purely magical. I have not been as impressed with the Neumann Bottle or U47 which contain the M7 as well. Anyone else have any experience and opinons on mics containing the M7? If any, what other capsules are comparible to the M7? Does anyone know specifically why PVC made the mic membranes sound so much better than materials used in the modern mics?

Soooo glad someone brought up this microphone. The studio I work at just recently acquired the same Gefell w/ the M7 capsule. All I have to say, is holy moly. I love that microphone. The M7 is seriously where it's at. The new Neumann's have nothing on the M7 design. I haven't done too much research yet into those questions but, I do know that it has such great presence without all of the transients with sibilence like a lot of mic's with a good presence possess. Where are you recording your vocals at?

I was recording the vocals in Miami at a private studio down there.. it doesn't really have a name, but it was designed and built by Michael Cronin. We recorded into a Sony Oxford and Protools HD 192. Also noteworthy on this session was the Stereo Royer Ribbon SF12 used for overheads...it took a while to get its placement, but after about 30 minutes of tweaking the placement, the stereo image was incredible.
