Default How's the Aphex 207D mic pre?

I'm thinking about picking up an Aphex 207D 2-channel preamp sometime. Anybody used one of those? Based on the research I did, people seem to like the Aphex a bit better than some of the other 2-channel pres in the price range (such as the offerings from ART and Bellari). I know that $400 for a 2-channel preamp isn't anywhere near the high-priced or even mid-priced stuff, but I could use another pair of pres to use instead of the pair of built-in pres on the M-Audio Delta 1010LT (I've never even bothered with those). Any opinions?

If it is what you are going for, be sure you are actually not using those pres on the Delta 1010 though. There may be no way around using them.

Default 207D

I own it. I use it with a Rode NT1-A & I get a very interesting sound that I love. It produces a smooth, bright (but not too bright) sound. Pretty warm. It's prefect for capturing a very soothing consistent vocal (adds coloration to signal). The chain sounds perfect for acoustic guitar too (warmth & smoothness). Can't be used for every vocalist or genre. I imagine this pre would not work well with hard-rock vocalist or hip-hop (it's not an aggressive pre). Curious how it would sounds with an omni mic.
