I got a Lacie d2. It burns dual layer and it even can burn images right onto the disc... which I'll never use. sharpies are fine.
Now I never knew how much mystery surrounds the world of DVDR... DVD-R, +R, whatever. I keep getting mixed stories on all sides. So far I've only gotten and used +r which worked fine... well... two failed. I might have overclocked the media though. Basically I bought this thing to get all the audio off my hard drives , a very unglorious purchase and process. Now I need to learn how to rip movies, arrrrr |

As far as I know this is the straight dope. +R's are good for data storage but only work with certain types of burners. Hewllit Packard has their hands in the +R rackett so their burners can only burn to +R they are great for storage and will play movies on most newer high end set top players. -R's are more commonly accepted by older and newer set-top DVD players and work fine for storage too. So this is where you would want to put your DVD videos, with the menus and the titles and the glavin.
Sounds like a sweet burner. I bet you could get some cool designs using the image burner. You should experiment. |

ripping software is easy to come by; just ask around. a friend would be a hippocrate to not burn you a copy of software intended to pirate. oh, dagosto....what is glavin? Last edited by smopo24; 04-05-2006 at 08:18 PM. |
