Does anybody use that trick where you have your guitar track panned hard left then delay the track a little tiny bit and pan that track hard right? I always hated the way that sounded but I tried it last night and it was perfect. Not all the songs had a multed guitar track but some did, so I mixed that mult with the delay nice and low under the main track. There were a few little licks that mult track did that jumped out so I automated those up. Pick slides and stuff. It really worked well. Keep that trick in mind, but don't overuse it.

I do something like this but with two or more mics instead of multing through a delay line. Not only gives you that phase effect but also a range of timbres across the stereo image. Definitely somthing not to overdo though.
