In general, there is a dynamic loss towards the center of the record because of a high probability of distortion on the inside track on the narrow turn radius.

wow, interesting article; I had always wondered what that RIAA curve was! I can't believe track sequencing needs to be done with regard to a song's dynamic range and how hot it is.
