The building on Lasalle above the Clark and Lake blue line has some neatly spaced out echoes in it. When you sample the room response do you need it to be fairly quiet? If you could get in there with the Microtrack and a starter pistol after hours I wonder if the cops would come.

Actually you can use a 12 second sine sweep and use a progem to change that to an impulse. Voxengo has a free one. This test is supposed to be better when dealling with noise floors from what I've read.

would carrying a boombox and turning the channel to 87.3 do the same trick. if its just white noise i imagine you can crank up the volume on the boom box and record that. or am i completely off base?

just to ask is there anything for a Mac other than Altiverb which allows you to use convolution reverbs? I know there are some RTAS plugs but Im just looking for something less expensive than Altiverb.

Damn it's a shame I just found a Convo-reverb, bare in mind it might not be the ultra best in the world, included with the Orion Pro software:
http://www.synapse-audio.com/convolution_reverb.php Damn shame Orion is a Windows only DAW
