Default Recording Acoustic guitar and vox

Does anyone have a recording trick for someone who wants to do their Acoustic guitar and vocal track at the same time. I have a guy who wants some mix options but feels like his songs sound best without overdubs. I'm looking for tips on isolation, mic placement, and either making the bleed work for me or the best way to get a fairly dry sound.

I've never done it before. First thing I'd try (other than one mic to one track) would be an X-Y stereo configuration on its side. One pointing down and the other pointing up. Might be a bit in the wrong places though.... hmm I dunno.

when all else fails I would suggest looking at some stock photos of recording sessions. This is one of my faves with Bert Jansch doing one such recording:

seems to be two large diaphragm condenser mics one above the other.

Yeah, I agree with the picture. Keep it simple. If you want mix options add a couple room mics. Also let the performer know they should try to maintain a balance of volumes between guitar and voice.

In that photo there are two mics by the guitar, not one. One for the fingers and the other for the body. It looks like a phase nightmare to me.

Good eyes. My guess, one of those mics didn't make it to the final mix.

Default one condensor mic

ive had good experiences recording one track vocals and acoustic guitar using one large diaphram condensor mic. proper mic position is essential, but it can be done. works well.

This is something I've been wondering about. I guess it's worth a shot setting up 3 mics for safety. 1 track guitar, 1 vox and 1 set up to pick up both evenly. This should give me a few options. Thx.
