Default tape delay and loops. maybe the future.

this pic illustrates how tape delay works. Imagine the tape being stretched all the way across the studio to create a long delay. ingenious. CLick on next and you can see a pic of a tape loop. Imagine if we make all our loops this way. Modern music as we know it may not exist.

Very cool, but definitely not "the future." Maybe "the distant past's idea of the future."

Man. I totally could conceptualize this exactly before i even researched it. he did exactly what i imagined:
used helium balloons as tape guides. The tape between the two decks
ran through a loop tied in the string on a big balloon. The play deck
ran slow, so the balloon gradually rose up into the air as more and
more tape fell slack between the machines.

He did it because he was using consumer grade tape decks with slight speed differences. Stuff I needed to know cause I want to eventually set up cheap tape delays in my studio. Thanks!

no problem! yea, he also has some great packaging if you come accross an origional version of the record; metal box.....not as cool as big black's vinyl debut, but still cool. he's got a loyal following, and has done some other intersting stuff.
