For the kid who thinks spending 600 dollars on a PS3 is totally worth it because Sony has updated the graphics on a turd.
I really dunno who the market is for this interface. |

It's a nice interface but for less you could get something like the Yamaha MG 10/.2 mixer and add a lot more to your mixing...
Another one that's not something I would ever get yet is fairly handy for casual use is the new Boss Micro BR recorder It's got small 1/8 jacks for headphones and a stereo 1/8 line in and just one 1/4" for the guitar. Someone said its a little poorly made when they tried it out but its a nice little stocking stuffer I guess |

Don't sell it short. I just had BlackLion mod mine. Quality-wise, it's quite the trick; great for easychair tracking/songwriting, and as a 2nd station. The main reason I got mine was to spend extended time with Strike. Makes a nice ministack on the coffee table with my FMR gear. Works great with a laptop and headphones.

But why choose this over, lets say, a fast track USB. It is the same concept but for 80 bucks. I just can't warrant spending 300 bucks on that. If I am going to spend that kind of money I will buy a firepod and get 8 inputs.

It depends on what you want. I wanted a minimum cubic box that supports LE with Strike, and I wanted premium preamps, clocking and converters. The MboxMini was a good place to start. Thanks to BlackLion, they could mod the unit with ubergood components. I only track one or two channels at a time for this use. The older I get the more suprised I am at how broad and diverse a market can be. As the old Chinese proverb says, every man has his reasons.

I see your point willem. What you have now is probably comparable to an Apogee Mini Me. Plus you can work in PT which is obviously your DAW of choice and Strike, your sampler of choice.
It is however not digi that has made this a good choice for you, it was Black Lion. I believe that if you could not get the input circuitry updated you would in fact be better off with a less overpriced product and also learn a different sequencer. |

Actually, the Mbox Mini w/BLA mods replaced an Apogee MiniMe USB. The a/b was very interesting. Ended up having BLA replace the pres in the MiniMe, which I'll still use at my Live6 workstation. We looked at upgrading the converters and clocking but they were considerably better than the original pres and the improvement by mod was not as compelling.
