There are Studio Project and Mackie with eight pres as well. I wanna try one of those out. I have some focusrite pres but they don't blow me away.

The Octopre and the Onyx are both based on the Graham Cohen design, which was the basis for lots of preamps over the years--the SSL 9000, the Focusrite Green Range, the Mbox, the Amek 9098, and a host of others.
