The guy who used to run Medusa's still throws club nites, but he doesn't have an actual space. Last I heard, he had a nite in Elgin, IL, and I used to go to Medusas at the Congress theater back around 92-93. I haven't heard much of him lately, but I haven't really been looking.

When I went to college in Mich. I'd drive in with my Chicago friends and hit Medusa's every once in a while. This was like 1988-1990, and it was definitely on Sheffield Ave. right around Clark and Belmont. Lots of Front 242, Ministry, etc., played at tympanic membrane-rupturing volumes. The spectacle was fun, but I quickly decided I liked places where I could conduct actual conversations with my friends, instead everybody standing around and nodding like they can make out what the others are saying. I think the building was taken over by an insurance company or something.
