Default Banned Instruments in the US?

Some time ago my favorite band (Coil) ended up selling a bunch of random stuff from their home in London..LP's, books, etc. They also had up for auction a traditional Tibetan Thighbone Trumpet that was used on various Psychic TV records (for those who know who they are, pretty neat eh?)

Anyway, the specifications for the instrument according to tradition is that it must be made from the thigh of an animal that died in a violent manner. Anyway, eBay pulled the auction, and i've been able to find little information about finding one for sale.

Any ideas?

Perhaps the animal that died so violently was on the endangered species list.

Meh, usually it's a goat or deer or something.

Political correctness is so weird. I bet a majority of animals that die naturally die violently. Nobody complains when a tiger takes down a zebra, for example, even though this is not exactly a peaceful exit for the zebra. But try to sell that zebra's skin on eBay . . .

Yep.

Though in all fairness, i'm sure eBay didnt appreciate that they were also selling an authentic Hitler Youth belt buckle.

So, what if the zebra was killed by a tiger. Thus being a natural kill, the tiger then gets, I don't know, spooked away. Can the Zebra skin then be sold ethically on eBay?

hmmm

In my opinion, yes, so long as you use the rest of the zebra as well. Cook the meat, use the bones as tools, instruments, whatever.

I hope that when I'm killed by a tiger somebody makes a trumpet out of my thighbone.
