Default harmonicas

i always been confused about harmonicas, because, i mean, i think it is cool that you can get harmonicas in almost any key, but how do ya know which key to choose? like, would the the key of "E" be good for a guitarist? or "A" to get a harmonic (excuse the pun) complimentary 5th to what you are playing on the guitar? or does it matter? any help would be appreciated, thnx
